Want a Hitachi Magic Wand Vibrator, well we have gone one better. Its cordless, rechargeable, designed for the UK market & is under £50. In Stock. Available Now

Every day we at GetMePleasure are fielding more and more phone calls that start like this: “Hi, I’ve noticed you stock the Rechargeable Magic Massager. How does it compare with that Hitachi Magic Wand thingy my friend told me about?” It seems like the Rechargeable Magic Massager is generating more than its fair share of interest, and it’s almost inevitable that people are comparing it the Hitachi Magic Wand. We want to set the record straight about the two toys, so here’s our comparison. Which one’s best? There’s only one way to find out…. FIIIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT!!!

Similarities to the Hitchi Magic Wand

Before we look at their differences, let’s look at the similarities between the Hitachi Magic Wand and the Magic Massager. They are similar, there’s no two ways about it, but just how similar? Well, firstly these two massagers look pretty similar. They’re about the same size and they both look like those novelty voice-amplifying microphones you used to get when you were a kid (you remember the ones; they were brightly coloured and battery-powered and didn’t actually do anything at all. If memory serves, you ended up shouting into it just to make sure the bloody thing wasn’t broken, so in that sense it actually did work as a voice amplifier).

They’re both long, plastic pieces of kit with round, silicone heads that vibrate. They both have three settings: off, medium and high, and they’re both as powerful as Barack Obama. Barack Obama on steroids. With a machine gun. The power is crazy, it’s what these toys are famous for. Their medium settings are both around 5000rpm and the high settings are about 6000rpm. Those numbers are difficult to really understand, so consider it in these terms: a particularly powerful electric drill, such as the one gathering dust in your garage, will probably not even get close to 3000rpm. So yeah, these two toys are powerful in the extreme. (Just a note to clarify something, the heads on the Hitachi Magic Wand and the Rechargeable Magic Massager don’t actually rotate; there’s a clever bit of gadgetry inside that spins and generates the vibrations.)

They’re not just sex toys though. While you might titter and go “pfff… yeah right” when we call these toys ‘body massagers’, they really are brilliant for body massage. Try putting one under a pillow and resting your head on it so that the massager is under the crook of your neck. It’s soooooo relaxing, and it’s a really good way to cure insomnia. They both feel amazing on your muscles and joints, and apologies for sounding a bit gross here, but if you use either one on your face then they will actually clear your sinuses and shake the grime out of your pores. Everyone’s a winner.

Differences to the Hitachi Magic Wand Massager

So with so much in common, you might think that it doesn’t matter which one you choose. But you’d be wrong, because the differences between the Magic Massager and the Hitachi Magic Wand far outweigh the similarities. Let’s concentrate on the most important difference first: the cable.

You see, the Rechargeable Magic Massager is, as the name suggests, rechargeable. The Hitachi Magic Wand is mains powered. This means that you have to be within a 10ft radius of a plug socket at all times when you want to use the Hitachi Magic Wand, and you don’t need to be anywhere near one with the Magic Massager. Hell, you could be on the moon with the Magic Massager, just as long as you charged it overnight before you left.

Here are 10 more differences between the Hitachi Magic Wand and the Rechargeable Magic Massager:

10. Availability Of The Hitachi Magic Wand

The Hitachi Magic Wand is actually really hard to get hold of. They have to be imported from America or Japan, and that can take forever. But the Rechargeable Magic Massager is widely available in the UK. That’s part of the reason why we at GetMePleasure sell the Rechargeable Magic Massager but don’t sell Hitachi’s version.

9. Hitachi Wand Connectivity

Because the Hitachi Magic Wand comes from across the pond, it’s supplied with a stupid plug and you need an adaptor to use it in the UK. That’s pretty irritating, since adaptors often drain a little bit of the power, and also just because it’s quite inconvenient. No such trouble with the Rechargeable Magic Massager; it comes fitted with Blighty’s best 240v 3-pin plug. Hurrah.

8. The Cable For The Hitachi Magic Wand

The trouble with ALL mains-powered sex toys is that the cable inevitably gets in the way. It’s like when you’re mowing the lawn, you have to keep scooching the cable out of the way and you end up with it over your shoulder and round your wrist and all sorts. The Rechargeable Magic Massager has no such annoyances.

7. Noise from the Hitachi Wand Vibrator

The Hitachi Magic Wand is a noisy bugger. It feels amazing, but the whole time you’re using it you get the feeling that all your neighbours know exactly what you’re up to. While the Rechargeable Magic Massager certainly isn’t ninja-silent, it’s a lot quieter than its Japanese friend.

6. Sensation - Smoother than the Hitachi Magic Wand Massager

In our honest opinion, the rough, textured silicone used on the rechargeable massager feels a lot nicer and firmer than the material on the head of the Hitachi Magic Wand.

5. Price compared to The Hitachi Magic Wand

If you actually manage to track one down, then you’ll notice that you’ll be paying more for the Hitachi than for the Rechargeable Magic Massager. The Hitachi is actually quite cheap to buy in America, but you won’t be able to get it to the UK without paying crazy money for delivery. The Magic Massager works out cheaper.

4. Portability - We Got The Hitachi Wand Beat

The Rechargeable Magic Massager is eminently more portable than the Hitachi Magic Wand. Sure you can stick your Hitachi in your suitcase and use it in a hotel room for example, but you can charge the Magic Massager up and then go use it in a field, if you’re so inclined. That’s MILES better. And aside from the power supply advantage, the Magic Massager is also slightly lighter and therefore slightly easier to carry around.

3. Heat From The Hitachi Wand Vibrator

The Hitachi Magic Wand gets hot. Really hot. And since there’s a good chance that when you use it you’ll have it buried under a pile of pillows to stifle the deafening noise it makes, it’ll get very hot very quickly. The Rechargeable Magic Massager doesn’t suffer from this affliction.

2. Looks - The Hitachi Wand Massager Is It A Looker?

Maybe it’s not that important, but we think the Magic Massager is the better looking of the two toys.

1. Power - The Hitachi Magic Wand Is Tied To A Socket

While Hitachi have been keen to point out that the Rechargeable Magic Massager needs recharging where the Hitachi Magic Wand doesn’t, what they haven’t taken into consideration is the fact that the Magic Wand simply becomes an ornament when there’s a powercut. And that’s a terrible shame, because what’s more fun in a powercut than reaching for your favourite vibratey thing and indulging yourself? With the Rechargeable Magic Massager you can still enjoy 6000rpm of leg-weakening, orgasmic pleasure even in a powercut.

The End

So to sum up, we think the Rechargeable Magic Massager excels the Hitachi Magic Wand on every point. And because all of the Hitachi attachments will fit the Rechargeable Magic Massager, there’s no reason to choose anything but the Magic Massager.
