Cleaning and Storage of your Toys

When it comes to cleaning and storing specific types of toy here are some general hints though we recommend you look at the Material and Care section relevant to the material your toy is made out of.

Dildos should be cleaned with mild antibacterial soap and hot water or a disinfectant sex toy cleaner and stored in a protective box or bag when not in use.

For vibrators, take the batteries out and close the compartment or unplug from the mains before cleaning. Use an antibacterial soap or disinfectant sex toy cleaner with a damp cloth. Do not submerge unless the manufacturer states it is waterproof and keep liquid away from the mechanical parts of your toy. Wash all the attachments and air-dry or use a lint-free cloth to dry thoroughly. Make sure it?s thoroughly dry inside and out especially on waterproof vibes before storing. To store, always take the batteries out as this will prolong the battery life and eliminate the possibility of the toy getting accidentally switched on. Wrap in a cloth and store until the next time.

Masturbation sleeves can be cleaned with anti-bacterial soap and hot water. Turn the toy inside out if possible so that you can clean the inside thoroughly, pat or air dry and wrap and store in a clean dry cloth. If your toy is made of cyberskin dust it with corn starch inside and out to stop the material getting sticky before storing.

Anal beads need to be cleaned thoroughly with soap and hot water, disinfected and boiled after each use.

Materials and Toys

Sex toys are made from a variety of material which have specific care instructions. If you have lost your manufacturer instructions and packaging and don?t know what the toy is made of we suggest that you use a mild soap and warm water and let the product air dry after each use.

Silicone

Silicone toys are non-porous, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and probably the most hygienic. More expensive than other toys, the smooth fleshy texture has a fair amount of give, picks up body heat and transmits vibrations very well. If you look after it a silicone toy will last you a long time.

For cleaning you can either wash with warm water and antibacterial soap or dildos and non battery- operated toys can be sterilised by boiling them for 3 minutes or putting thtem in the dishwasher. If you do clean your toy in the dishwasher we do suggest that you don?t use detergent or rinse aid as this may be too harsh, the heat and the water will clean your toys thoroughly. Let the toy air dry completely or pat dry with a lint-free cloth before storing.

Don?t ever use silicone lubricant with a silicone toy because the chemical reaction will cause the toy to melt. Use a non-lubed condom to cover your toy. Silicone toys can tear easily so remember to keep it away from sharp edges and abrasive surfaces.
